Obituary of Anne Isabel Fotheringham

FOTHERINGHAM: Anne Isabel

Anne Isabel Fotheringham (nee Ellis) passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 12, 2024, in her 83rd year. Her family would like to express heartfelt appreciation for the medical care during Anne’s courageous battle with cancer given by Drs. Hudson, Mallory, Sharif, Wilson, and Aaron Grant; the nursing care from Deb Parks; the staff and those working at PRHC’s Cancer Care Unit; the truly wonderful nurses and PSWs at Hospice Peterborough; and for the unwavering support throughout her ordeal from Ann Ferrier, David Morton, Peter Craig, Daphne King, and brother-in-law Bob Fotheringham.

Anne was deeply loved by her husband of 60 years, Ronald Fotheringham, and her children Julie Fotheringham (Daniel Hageman) of Blue Mountains ON, and James Fotheringham (Jennifer) of Chester NS. She was a loving “Nanny” to Callen, James (Sarah Baird), and Matthew (Aleena Walji) Hageman, and Hilary and Artie Fotheringham. Predeceased by her parents Edmund and Daisy Ellis, Anne was born on August 3, 1941, in Hamilton ON, and raised her children in Bolton ON before moving to Stoney Lake ON.

Anne will be remembered fondly by so many for her work in the library at The Humberview School in Bolton for 26 years, as an enthusiastic curler at Peterborough Golf Club, and as “Queen of Happy Hour” at Stoney Lake.

Anne had an exceptional capacity for love, kindness, and hospitality. She modelled beautifully what family, friend, and neighbour mean.

A private family funeral service will take place. A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at Burleigh Falls Inn, 4791 Hwy 28, North Kawartha, 1pm-4pm (remembrances at 2pm), Friday June 21, 2024. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough as an expression of sympathy and may be made by contacting The Hendren Funeral Homes, Lakefield Chapel, at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
