To Karen and family
I was shocked and saddened at the news of Steve’s passing.
Steve and I have worked on many CmHA and housing projects over the last thirty some years. I was always amazed at the energy and enthusiasm he put into everything we did and his dedication and immense knowledge that he had about our projects. His passing will leave a huge hole in your lives. I pray that you gain strength from your faith and from knowing how many lives he touched. Just recently a tenant needed some support and Steve was there in the evening to offer that support.
Thank you for live streaming the funeral as two of us in wheelchairs were worried about the weather and the large crowd we expected to eee.I send you all my deepest condolences

I just do not know the words that could even begin to comfort Steven's family.
While I am thinking of you and sending love and light, I remember the first time I met Steven, in Alberta at a hockey tournament in Sylvan Lake. His Mom and dad Florence and Neil had come west to visit and we motored up to Sylvan Lake for a brief visit. I mentioned this to him a few years ago and while he remembered the Hockey, his memory of me was a little vague, of course he was very young at the time. So lots of memories. He was always very kind to me and included me in things, by email of course as I have not been in Bobcaygeon for may years but was planning on going East in Sept/Oct and looking forward to visiting with him and Karen, and visiting the Fair that he urged us to come see. So sorry to see you leave us Steven, trust you are on another adventure and having a good time.

To Karen and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Steve. Although I had the pleasure of knowing him for only two years, it was evident from the start that he was an exceptional human being. Steve's kindness, professionalism, and dedication shone through in every interaction we had.
He entrusted me with his clients and went above and beyond to ensure a smooth transition, demonstrating his commitment not just to his work, but to the people he cared about. Our monthly lunches were a highlight for me, filled with engaging conversations and laughter. His wisdom, generosity, and warmth left a lasting impression on me.
Steve will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,

Dear Karen and family, as Ivy and I share your grief, we want to thank God for bringing Steve in our lives. We have been blessed by God through him.
I also wish to acknowledge Steve's contribution to the formerly Canadian Mental Health Association Victoria County/Kawartha Lakes Branch (CMHA KL). Steve made an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people who had experienced mental health issues in their lives, within the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Under Steve's leadership as the President of the formerly CMHA KL, the Branch developed various programs and services.
Steve's vision was to develop permanent safe stable secure and affordable housing for the people with mental illness and those with low income. This resulted into upgrading of Harrison House building, inception of Market Squire Non Profit Housing Corporation in Bobcaygeon, 2-Hamilton St. Lindsay and 35-Cambridge St., Lindsay.
Apart from being involved with the formerly CMHA KL, Steve was also involved with the Neighborhood Housing, Lindsay, for similar people.
Steve's hard and long work won him numerous volunteer awards by the local branch of the CMHA and by the Provincial Office of the Canadian Mental Health Association Ontario Division. He was bestowed with Ontario's Distinguished Services Award, a highest level of honor for a special volunteer.
Steve was a champion of vulnerable people.
Steve has left a legacy of affordable safe stable secure and permanent housing for the people with 'mental health and low-income' issues, in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
All of us are proud of him and miss him immensely.

My deepest sympathies to Karen and the whole family. I counted Steve as a close friend, and I was fortunate enough to have known him for the past 20 years. He was always willing to help in a positive way with a warm smile. From advice on personal and financial matters to showing up the first day we moved from Toronto to Peterborough with a cooler full of food welcoming us to the area, he was a man I knew I could count on. He will be greatly missed.
