Lois Mae Howieson/Hadley

June 18th 1934 – August 19th 2024

Lois Mae Howieson/Hadley (nee Baufelt) predeceased by parents Herman and Willard Baufeldt and younger brother Jim Baufeldt.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom in her 91st year.

Mom grew up in Stratford ON and moved with her family to Toronto ON in 1948.

Mom married Dave Howieson in 1954, they made a life together in Maple ON with their two children. David (Tracie) and Kathy Smith (Bryan)

Mom was very involved in her Maple community, playing bridge and ladies “club “nights, school events, and was a local seamstress for many.

In 1989 they sold their Maple home and built a new retirement home on Buckhorn Lake ON.

They had a wonderful 20 years building friendships and making lasting memories. Again, mom was
very active in her community as a Buckhorn/Lakefield Community Care Board member and volunteer, she was also active as a Buckhorn Tourist Association member.

Mom loved to walk the cottage road and visit neighbors along the way, she enjoyed working in her
garden and then relaxing watching the many faces of the lake. Mom and Dad loved to travel and enjoyed several snowbird vacations.

Mom enjoyed having her family, children, grandchildren and eventually some great grandchildren at
the lake.

After 51 years her lifelong partner, Dave passed away.

After a few years Mom was fortunate to meet another wonderful husband Glenn Hadley and gained a bonus family.

Mom and Glenn moved to the village of Lakefield ON and enjoyed several years together enjoying
watching boats, tending to her garden, many drives and a slower pace of life, along with several more exotic trips.

Glenn passed in 2020.

Mom eventually moved north to New Liskeard and spent her last three years closer to her children.

Mom was a kind generous giving soul and would lend a hand to any that may need it. She made the best butter tarts, and you could always find a tin of homemade cookies.

If we mentioned, we needed something made for our home it would magically appear.  She made beautiful dresses for her granddaughter and then her great granddaughters.

Our mom will be missed by siblings Joan Zinn and Richard Baufeldt, children David (Tracie) Aaryn, Kathy (Bryan) grandchildren Brad (Angela) Tyler (Katie) Alex (Bev) Elizabeth (Austin), Great grandchildren Avery, Roxy, Jagger, Luke, Weston, Devin and new baby Olivia.

Bonus Family children Keith Hadley (Nancy) Susan (Darcy) Peter (Jenny) grandchildren Ruby (Brice) Ching (Matthew) Max. Gray, Merideth, Drew (Tara), Kylie. Great grandchildren   Sisi, Jumo and August

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Buckhorn or Lakefield Community Care.
