Obituary of James Michael McCaughey
McCaughey, James “Jim”
Peacefully passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital on September 27, 2024. James McCaughey of Bobcaygeon, in his 88th year. He was born on October 19, 1936, to parents Rose and Francis McCaughey in Toronto, Ontario.
James graduated from Humberside Collegiate in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart Judy Sanderson on Sept 12, 1959, and they had 3 children, Stephen, Brian, and Karen “Kerry”, who was adopted in 1969 at 4 months of age.
After graduating he worked in various positions in the HVAC and Courier/Transportation industries. When he retired, he moved with Judy to the family cottage on Cedar Glen in Dunsford, ON. Jim started a volunteer driver position with Community Care Kawartha Lakes. He was very honoured to give back to the community and awarded an appreciation certificate for 20 years of service.
Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Always loved a party. He was a proud “hockey dad” and enjoyed watching Stephen and Brian play football during high school. Jim was a storyteller. Always started the conversation with “You’ve probably heard this story before but let me tell you” Jim loved to recollect his younger days as a child, teenager, and young adult with stories of family and friends. Tales were told of time spent in the pool hall with friends, brothers Frank and Bill, classic cars, dancing, vacations, and time spent at the cottage. His favourite story was recollecting when he fell in love with his high school sweetheart Judy.
Jim and Judy just recently celebrated their “65th” wedding anniversary. Their love story began 70 years ago. He adored Judy and they were inseparable. Jim passed of a broken heart and spared truly little time to reunite with her in heaven. She was the love of his life, his sweetheart.
James is survived by children Stephen (Joanne), Brian (Janette), and Kerry (Kevin), grandchildren Derek, Leah (Chris) Sasha, Joshua, and great grandchild Jack.
He was predeceased by wife Judith Mccaughey, parents Francis and Rose McCaughey, brothers Frank and William McCaughey and grandson Adam McKenna.

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
