Norma Miller

Obituary of Norma Ellen Miller

NORMA ELLEN (CAMERON) MILLER

“Our hearts are broken at her passing, but we’re so happy that she is at peace.”

Passed peacefully with her family by her side at Fairhaven LTC on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 92 years of age. Norma, beloved mother of Linda, Rick (Sonja), Rob, Kathy and Sam (Maribeth). Remembered lovingly by her grandchildren Lynn, Jenny, Kane, Erik, Julia, Frederick, Jamie, Mary, Abi, Eliza and Isi. Sister of Isobel and predeceased by her brother, Jack.

Norma, originally from the Ottawa Valley, raised, as a single parent, her brood of five children in a raucous and only occasionally harmonious household in Lakefield. Though in constant flux, it was a home where no matter the circumstance, love and humour were of the utmost importance. Despite the challenges and responsibilities that came at home, Norma had a long, rich career as an elementary school teacher in the Peterborough Catholic School Board. Norma was an avid reader and a skilled knitter, quilter and baker. Though naturally inclined toward introversion, Norma had a wry wit and a petulant predilection for linguistic bombast.

Norma had a big, loving heart and was at her happiest when hosting family dinners of prime rib of beef, Caesar salad, homemade bread and generous lashings of red wine.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
