Obituary of George Osa Mosier
MOSIER: George Osa
It is with sadness that the Mosier family announces the passing of George on Saturday December 7, 2024 at PRHC in his 92nd year. George was born on March 3, 1933 and was predeceased by his much-loved wife of 67 years, Evelyn, (deceased March, 27, 2020) and by his parents, Osa and Marjorie Mosier of Freeport, Illinois, USA.
George will always be loved and remembered by his five children, George Osa Mosier Jr. (Catherine) of Okotoks, AB., Pamela Fridell of Blind Bay, B.C., Gregory Mosier (Joan) of Peterborough, ON., James Mosier (Susan) of Douro-Dummer, ON., Jacqueline Bishop (Tom) of Winnipeg, MB., and by his nine grandchildren, Aaron, Shane, Shad (Carrie), Mishael (Paul), Michael (Stefanie), Elizabeth (Adam), Taylor (Liam), Thomas (Allie), Curtis (Geena). George is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
George was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He obtained a business diploma and worked for West Bend in Milwaukee, WI., USA. He brought his young (and growing) family to Canada in 1959 to work at the West Bend, Canadian plant in Barrie, ON. George had an entrepreneurial spirit and was soon managing his own businesses. His son, James, and grandson, Curtis carry on his legacy through the company he started ‘Mosier International’. George was passionate about his role in marketing and sales and officially ‘retired’ at the age of 82.
George and Evelyn loved their later years spent in Lakefield. He was an active member of the Men’s Club at the Lakefield United Church and was a founding member of the Lakefield
PROBUS Club. In 2017 they moved to Princess Gardens Retirement Residence in Peterborough, and embraced the people and activities afforded to them in their new home.
The Mosier family wishes to thank the staff of Princess Gardens for their years of supportive and compassionate care. They also wish to acknowledge the medical expertise and care George received at PRHC in his final days. A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Friday May 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
