“Aunt” Vivian was a part of the Knoxes’ lives for as long as I can remember, hosting family reunions when we were young and attending them at the lake after mom and dad moved there. Such fun the Staples crew always had when they got together. I wish I had listened more carefully to all the stories that were told. It is easy to believe that nothing will change when we are young.
I never saw Vivian angry. She was always patient and uncomplaining. Drop ins at her home were always welcomed. As two of the remaining matriarchs, she and mom became even closer, and they spent many happy hours on the telephone when they no longer travelled very far, discussing family and what the neighbours were up to. While they would never say it, they loved and cared about each other.
To the Wilson children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, I send love and condolences.
