I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all of Jake's family. He was my peer tutor at St.Peters. He was always so kind to me and always fun and made me laugh so much. Our family was truly devastated and saddened to hear of the tragic loss of your wonderful son. He touched the lives of all the Bidgood's...our oldest son Nic knew Jake from sports and our youngest son Jack had been trained by Jake for boxing at Gold's Gym. He also worked for us for a short period of time and we can honestly say he was a ray of sunshine every time you saw him with that wonderful smile he always had on his face. My deepest condolences to all of Jake's family and friends. Jake was a dear friend to me and he will be greatly missed. I was always smiling when I was with him, he was without a doubt the kindest, most genuine and loving guy that I have ever known and he is irreplaceable. I am very lucky to have spent some time with someone as special as him. Jake was a high school friend, and just last christmas he messaged me with a compliment that really meant a lot to me. I apologize that I am not in Peterborough to celebrate his life. Thank you for having such a beautiful son.

I remember Jake in our high school classroom. When I taught him he was pleasant, thoughtful, happy, caring and just Jake. When I heard of his passing I spent some time with my memories of him. I am sure countless others have and will continue to mourn his passing as the news spreads far and wide.

To The Stanley Family ... I had the pleasure to get to know the children of the Stanley family while I worked at St. Paul's School. Jake was one of the toughest lads i knew, a few years older than me he was someone i looked up to at St.Pauls. I dont remember what grade i was in but i remember Jake wasn't the tallest or strongest guy back then and he had some beef with the biggest guy in his grade. Jake didn't back down against someone who was almost a foot taller than him, instead he gave a quick hook and im pretty sure the kids nose was broken. It was some serious david vs goliath type sh*t and i will always remember his bravery and heavy hands.

I didn't know Jake as a close friend, but as a highschool classmate. He was a very kind young man who never seemed to stop smiling & he had such a contagious laugh! Our lives have been forever changed with the loss of your Jake...we are so Blessed and thankful that you shared him with us all his years...from Hockey in Lakefield to St Pauls ( and the many school trips) to St Peters....and ripping around Our yards on the 11th line.... and chats about boxing with Zak
But it was in the St Pauls Quebec Trip that I treasure the most... we walked down hills to walk back up hills to walk back down... Jake was always worried I wasn't going to make it an assured me he could Piggy back me... he kept me laughing the whole trip and we had some pretty good conversation on the long bus ride to and from. One being as young as he was... he valued his family and friends were like his family. That's who Jake was... always ready to lend a hand...always ready to step up. And for this everyone admired him. He was quite the kid.
I know my kids and I feel a tremendous loss, and he will be forever missed.
