Obituary of John Frederick Moodie

Moodie, John Frederick “Jack” Jack Moodie was born on January 15, 1916 in Haileybury, Ontario. Jack will be missed by his caring wife Selma. He also leaves behind his son John, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Mary Ann, his father George F., and mother, Mary Fisher, and his brother WM. A. Moodie. Jack was educated in Hamilton, ON moving to Kirkland Lake in 1934. He worked at the Wright-Hargreaves Gold Mines until September 1940, at which time he enlisted in the R.C.A.F., serving as a Navigator. Upon discharge in 1945, he returned to Kirkland Lake, and worked for a short time at the Lakeshore Gold Mine. In 1948 he joined Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd. and enjoyed a 33 years business career with them. During this period he was based in various cities; Kirkland Lake, Timmins, Ottawa, Toronto, New York, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. He retired in 1981 and subsequently moved to Victoria Place in the Bobcaygeon Area. A funeral Service will take place at The Hendren Funeral Home, Monk Chapel, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 3:00 PM, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army in Jack’s name.
