Brian Harrington

Obituary of Brian Peter Duhan Harrington

Brian, of Clearview Cottage Resort, Young’s Point, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre at 62 years old after a short and courageous six week battle with pancreatic cancer. Brian was a family man and friend who ran a business he loved. He was blessed to have spent everyday of the last 36 years with the love of his life. He saw his resort life as a Godly calling of service. Being a father was his favourite job and he was a professional in his field, loving his children more than he loved himself. Brian was a teacher, a philosopher, a storyteller and a man of faith. He gave of his time, money and of himself to everyone he knew. He loved good food, laughter and single malt scotch. Brian enriched the lives of everyone with whom he came in contact. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, share a conversation and welcome you with a strong hug. Brian’s smile radiated from within his soul, cherishing the smallest moments and successes. He believed in making memories and spending time.

It is because of his beliefs and the man he was that he wanted a celebration of his life. So please join us and bring those moments, laughter, and memories to celebrate the man who made them all possible on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 1:00- 4:00 PM, at the Buckhorn Community Centre, Buckhorn, Ontario. Please dress casually in Clearview or cottage gear. Shoes optional. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Rita, his children Nick Ames, Jillian (Leslie Nunes) and Brianne (Chris Ball), his grandchildren Suzannah and Thomas, brother John Duhan (Reta), and many wonderful family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Barb and twin brother, Mark Harrington. Arrangements entrusted to The Hendren Funeral Homes, Lakefield Chapel. Cremation has taken place and a private family funeral mass was held.

Because Brian believed in making memories and spending time with those he loved, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to establishing a fellowship space where friends and family can make their own memories at Clearview Cottage Resort— the resort that Brian called home, put his heart and soul into, met wonderful people, and made so many of his own cherished memories. Memorial donations may also be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, Young’s Point. Donations and condolences may be made by visiting www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
