Steve Kruse posted a condolence
Sunday, August 25, 2019
Hi Linda,
I came across the sad news about Steve's passing just now.
I happen to be in Roxboro at the moment, because we sold
my dad's house a few months ago. So I'm sitting here, across
from Montgomery Park, and from your childhood house.
Childhood was a happy time for us, and your brother was a
big part of my life during that decade or so, He was slightly
older than most of us, and came up with all kinds of creative
ideas about how to have fun. In the park, on the street, building
things, inventing sports like Frisbee Hockey and inventing the rules.
My condolences.

Memories and Condolences:
We will remember Steve as so often being larger than life itself. Whether it be through his infectious laugh, his happy feet which were at any given moment, ready to tear up the dance floor or through his insane sense of humor. Steve loved cottage life, and anyone would have been envious of the harmony that Lidy and Steve shared, working hard to make Bobcaygeon their home away from home.
We remember the utter shock and sadness, knowing that Steve's quality of life would soon rapidly deteriorate with his diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's. Steve took this news with such grace and acceptance and was determined to make the best of every moment - which he did.
One of our greatest memories comes from a time shortly after he was diagnosed, and Lidy and Stefanie were working hard on inspiring Steve to write a journals, starting with his childhood memories, and working his way up. Apparently, he was writing some outrageous experiences, about people he had met, things that he had done etc., that never actually happened. This was not only for the sake of his kids, but when he forgot, he could read his journal and be totally impressed with himself - "Why not?", he said.. At the time, we howled so hard at his cleverness, but hope that his kids will know to take his journal with a grain of salt.
Our mixed emotions come not for mourning for Steve, as we know that his place in Heaven has been long awaited, but for all of us, especially his wife, Lidy and daughters, Stefanie and Elyse. Our hearts are heavy, as we will miss Steve immensely, but our grief for his girls is immeasurable.
For all of us that loved Steve and especially to his girls, "May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7)

Dear Stef and family,
Though I only met you over the course of one weekend Stef, you left a lasting impression, and the stories you shared of your Dad plucked at my heartstrings from afar. I'm so sorry he's gone, but I know it is a release from the pain he was suffering. "eyes closed, heart not beating, but a living love"
Love to you and your whole family, especially your mom, in this time of loss.. Xo
