Kevin was a giver, whether it was for food, drink, shelter, money, transportation, advice, expertise, wisdom or wit!
Kevin was there, no questions asked. Kevin was the middle child with two sisters on either side of him, he perfected his negotiation skills early on! We have so many memories, parties, weddings, babies, graduations, fire crackers days, retirements, floods, Malton explosion, pool parties, guitar nights! Kevin sacrificed many years helping to care for our mother next door, for this we are eternally grateful. Kevin became a very happy guy when he met Laureen then his wonderful kids Michael and Karen were the icing on the cake! We will cherish the memories forever! Love, Sylvia & Brian

Dear Laureen, Michael and Karen,
We were your neighbors for all those years at the side of you in Malton. We were so sorry when you went to Bancroft. You were like family so we were so sad when you had left! I am so saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. He was one of the best neighbors anyone would ever have. So very patient when the children's basketball used to go over the fence. Patient when they would have parties in the garage with loud music and "what-nots" teenagers get up to. When I had returned to univeristy he was so inspirational and a great supporter of my endeavors. When I had personal issues Laureen and Kevin were right there as support. I missed you all when you left and now hearing this news, I just want to give Laureen a big hug. Kevin was such a kind man and we were so blessed to have known him. May he rest in peace. It is so ironic that July 1 was always the day he would have his big Canada Day party. He could not have chosen a more apt day to pass away. He represented all that Canada is. Accepting, kind and generous!
May you all relish in the beautiful memories of this most kindest soul.
Lots of love to you Laureen, Michael and Karen from Jackie, Adam, Amin, Sarah and Omar. 23 North Alarton

My condolences to Laureen and family. My heart skipped a beat and I literally sucked in my breath when I saw this. So very sad to hear this. I have so many good memories of Kevin from high school and later. He had a song about cats that is inappropriate for polite company and I learned the words from him. I was very impressed to learn that he had completed a doctorate in education just because it interested him. The joke he told so often "Did you hear about the two peanuts walking through the woods?" "One was a salted." FYI - the Facebook Group - Malton Reunion - has many people remembering Kevin.

To the family and friends of Kevin. So sad for the loss of your brother, father, husband and friend. I would like you all to know that having him for a friend since I was about 10 yrs. old has enriched my life. He will always be remembered for his ability to see the humour and absurdity in the coarse necessities of life and for his sense of fun

I'm devastated by the loss of Kevin. My deepest condolences to Laureen, Michael and Karen. I worked for Kevin from 2001 until his retirement in 2010. He was the most understanding supervisor I ever worked for. He challenged you to be your best, took away as many obstacles to your success as he could, and then celebrated with you when you succeeded. He was my greatest mentor, and I will miss his council. He was also a great practical joker, and along with Bob, his partner in crime, they never let on their involvement in the gag. He had a great intellect, and one of my favourite things was sitting around in Kevin's office on a Friday afternoon chatting with Kevin & Bob. He was a great man and he will be sorely missed.

Dear Laureen, Michael, and Karen.
I am so sorry to hear the news of Kevin’s passing. He was truly a remarkable friend. His life and spirit were a true testament of his nature. Its hard to believe that our lives have intertwined for over forty-five years. He was always such a gracious host, for the numerous parties and drop-ins he held. But, Kevin was more than that. He was a thinker, an adventurer, a traveler, and a mentor.
I remember when I was sent to the High Arctic in the weather service in 1980, he kindly sent me tapes of music by mail to help keep my sanity. ( I still have them I believe) Also, when I was going to Newfoundland for a job , he sent me off in grand style. ( it took me 24 hours to recover!) He didn’t need to do that, but that was Kevin, a true friend. But what I will cherish most were the days, sitting in his backyard in old Malton, having a beer and enjoying his company with all his friends around him, and for that, I am truly thankful.

I can't begin to list the importance of our friendship. All the times and time we spent together, East Coast trips, camping, football, and best of all visiting having a beer and some great food. Every Saturday we would go downtown checking out all the record stores, buying something new, having lunch and going home to listen to the music for the rest of the day, sitting and talking about anything that came to mind. Some intellectual, some, not so much. Great days, great times. Kevins' drive to obtain his PHd is unrivalled. I tell people any chance I get how he went about it. Kevin is already missed by many. My heart goes out to Laureen, Michael and Karen. To all Kevins' family, I know this is a big loss. All the best. I will have that beer, sitting in the back yard with him, as we last talked about. Cheers! You will always be by my side.

Just heard of Kevin's passing today and am very heavy hearted. Kevin was my friend, mentor, advisor, great listener, supporter, and had a great sense of humour. Kevin loved his family and we shared many stories of his annual backyard parties with lots of food, drink, and loads of fun for the kids!! Lauren, Michael and Karen, my thoughts and prayers are with you today and please know that Kevin brought a ray of sunshine to all that he crossed paths with. He was a very special person. Kevin, rest in peace my friend.

I'll never forget the day Kevin & Laureen moved into their new home in Port 32 (Bobcaygeon). At the end of the day my doorbell rang and it was Kevin. He was exhausted from the move and asked if he could borrow 2 wine glasses. I gave him the glasses and he gave me a big smile and said "we're finally here". We enjoyed the spontaneous gatherings with close neighbours on their front porch and we were privileged to be invited to some very extravagant "Harvest Moon" dinner parties. Kevin was an amazing host, cook and storyteller.
Our deepest sympathy

We will always remember Kevin as courageous, respectful and a man of great inspiration.
We worked together as partners and friends where we had outstanding successes and very few failures.
We laughed together, pulled the occasional prank, and shared the same wry sense of humour.
We complimented each other at work and in retirement.
We will miss Kevin’s wit and wisdom but we know his struggles on this mortal plane are over.
Rest In Peace my friend.
