Obituary of Jim Grandy
Grandy, James Roland
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that Jim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday December 5th.
Born August 11th, 1941 in Burin, Newfoundland, Jim was the eldest child of Cecil & Gertrude, brother to Brenda (Al, deceased) and Wanda (Peter). He was deeply proud of his Newfoundland heritage.
Predeceased by his first wife Doreen Ellen Grandy with whom he had two children, Glenn (Maya) and Sheila (David).
Jim is survived by his loving wife Mary. Jim & Mary celebrated over 35 years of marriage and were always true and devoted to one another. They enjoyed gardening, golf, travelling, family and a vast group of friends. Mary will miss Jim every day until they are together again forever.
Jim is also survived by his two granddaughters Clancy (Pat) and Alexandra (Andrew).
Jim was a “favourite” and deeply loved son in law to Wavey Hyde.
Jim spent his entire career in the Canadian Food & Grocery Industry where he forged countless friendships over the years. One in particular was his lifelong friendship with Jim Yeaman. Jim will be missed by his nieces and nephews and his many friends, one in particular which developed later in Jim’s life was his brother-like friendship with Walt McKechnie, their special bond will be remembered always.
Glenn & Sheila would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mary for her endless love and care that Mary provided our Dad from the day they met.
The entire Grandy family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Health Care workers and services that cared for Jim during his time of need. We cannot express how much of a difference this made to Jim, Thank You.
As per Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Jim, donations to Kawartha North Family Health Team Bobcaygeon or SickKids Hospital, would be appreciated.
