ARMSTRONG: Jean Edith

It is with great sadness we announce the death of our loving mother, Jean Armstrong, in her 92nd year.  Jean was predeceased by Bill Hickey (who succumbed to MS at the age of 29) and they had four children Dave (Judi), Brenda McMahon (deceased), Bev Twomey (Doug deceased) and Cheryl Spratt (John deceased).  Jean later married Harold Flood (deceased) and with that became step-mother to Glen (deceased) (Sue) and Sherrill (Doug).  Jean was a special Grandma to Sean, Melanie, Tyler, Rob, Chris, Mark, Scott, Paula, Meagan, Lisa, Lori and Shane and Great Grandma to Claire, Will, Sam, Charlotte, Oakleigh, Brendyn, Regan, Taylor, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Mason, Kenzie, Aliya and Elena.  Jean was the fourth youngest of twelve children born to William and Ruby Armstrong and is survived by sisters Ada, Olive and Hazel and was close to special nieces Carol Ann, Dianne, Betty and Sylvia.

Jean worked for many years at the Bank of Montreal and later at the Red Cross as a homemaker.  She was an enthusiastic euchre player and in her recent years, got out to cards at least twice per week.  Jean had a great interest in reading, gardening, cooking and especially spending time with her family.

Our family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of P.R.H.C. and especially to the outstanding team at Hospice Peterborough during her last days.  Also, a big thank you to Dr. Taylor and his assistant Shannon and much appreciation to Dr. Beamish who guided and supported the family through mom’s final days.
