We were saddened to hear of the loss of such an incredible gentleman, Murray Whetung. Our most sincere condolences go out to Murray's entire family. Back in the 1970s & 80s, we were privileged to have Murray, Elva & many family members as patients in our Chiropractic Clinic on Park St. South in Peterborough. The Whetungs were the type of patients that everyone in the office truly looked forward to seeing and caring for! Murray was ALWAYS smiling and shared such amazing and fascinating stories! I never heard an unkind word come from Murray... he was always kind, optimistic & benevolent. Even after I retired, we stayed in touch and I kept learning from him, especially regarding the propagation of Wild Rice!
God Bless you Murray... the world is a better place because you were in it!
Much Love and Treasured Memories,
Dr. Michael & Joan Livingstone

The world has surely lost a special man, and heaven has gained an angel warrior of peace. My empathy and condolences go out to the entire family and specifically to Lorenzo, Jodi and family with whom I have been connected to over the years from teaching their children to being teachers together. To love a person so deeply, comes with the honour of feeling the pain of loss so deeply. I lost my mum 4 years ago at the age of 94, and although our loved ones have lived a full life, we are never truly prepared to lose them from ours. You are in my prayers until we all meet again on earth, or in Heaven.
Sincerely,
Carol Patterson-Leclerc

To the Whetung family: I was very sorry to hear of Murray's passing. Murray's spirit of joy was evident from the first time I met him in 1975. He officially became an elder in the Curve Lake United Church during my time there. I learned a great deal from Murray and as the years went on, every time I saw Murray it was like we had not been apart. Murray was a great blessing to me and to anyone who got to know him. Thank you for sharing Murray with the rest of us. In days and months to come, as you remember Murray. celebrate the many gifts that were shown in the way Murray lived.
With Christ's love and peace to you all. Rev. Dan Yourkevich

We have had the blessing of knowing Murray for more than 35 years. We feasted, fasted and travelled with him. We have visited him in his home and we came to know members of his family.
We have loved him as a person of wisdom, grace and humour and he has enriched our lives. If it was possible for us to travel we would h be in Curve Lake to pay our respects this week.
May the Creator bless you all in this time of remembering,
With love,
Stan and Dorothy McKay

I am saddened to learn of Uncle Murray's passing. I am thankful to have shared memories with him as a child. Him and Aunt Cobe taught me how to play Cribbage and Euchre while visiting our family in Willow Beach. Oh boy, did those two have patience. Your mom and dad attending my wedding in Curve Lake with little Murray and staying late into the evening. Uncle Murray carrying my eldest son around the church at his baptism in 1996, showing him off proudly to the congregation.
I will miss Uncle Murray's infectious laugh and the stories he shared of my dad's service in the army that none of us knew about. His gentle spirit and genuine love of family impacted us all. Those memories will carry on forever. Rest in peace, Uncle Murray.
Niece, Tracey Sillaby
