I don't want to believe it, I've been in denial because I always took for granted you'd be here forever. All the lessons that you taught me all the memories we shared. You were my closest of aunties and I spent every summer and every holiday learning how to work hard in order to earn the play hard. You taught me the most important things life like to offer my help and always do my chores before I play. You were stern and strict but without that strength and your resolve I would be a spoiled rotten egg. You were equally playful and had a wicked sense of humor one I never really got to see until my wedding, when I became a woman in your eyes. Everything you did to make sure I was getting the most out of my childhood, to soak up every last ray of summers sunshine and even to dance naked in the rain because everyday on this earth is beautiful and something to be grateful for. You made things magical for me yet still kept me grounded to reality and life's balance. I love you and miss you dearly thank you for blessing me with your strong presence in my life.

TO Dixie's family and friends I am so so sorry. I just found out now which is 5 a.m. my time at the Eugene, Oregon airport heading for Denver and then to Toronto. I have been with my sister Jana in Coos Bay Oregon the last 35 days. It was Brenda Whetung who wrote me and I just got her message that Dixie passed away. It was such a surprise and shock. She was a very special person and though I didn't see her often she was always kind to me and I appreciated that. I know it is a huge loss for all of you and for the Curve Lake community. She will be dearly missed.I came to Curve Lake to visit your family when Murray Whetung passed away and he was a good friend for many years.I had a nice visit with Dixie at that time and it was great to see her. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers as I head home. Love and blessings to you all. Dorinda (Vollmer) If you don't know I am the minister at Alderville United Church .
