Darlene and I go way back to the Apsley Hotel where she worked for us, just a student at the time, and got into more trouble with my grandma than you could imagine. If I was hungry after I'd gone up to bed, all I had to do was throw a rope out the sun porch window with a note in an attached basket and swing it in front of the snack bar window and wait till it caught someone's attention. "Would you make me a shake and a burger please, Darlene? Thanks! xo" She'd come out, read the note to see what I wanted and send the burger or whatever up in the basket when it was done. If grandma caught her she'd be in deep doodoo but Darlene would just laugh her big loud infectious laugh and carry on. We did have fun.
My sincere condolences to Darlene's family and friends. Rest in peace, Darlene. You'll never be forgotten. X♥O
