I have a great memory of Mrs. Pendergest, she drove my Mom, sister as she shared boxes of crackers during the drive. We were headed somewhere to catch up with my Dad, Mr. Al Rennie, who she worked with for a number of years at Lakefield District High School. Mrs. Pendergest, and I am certain by my age, she would have invited me to call her Nancy - but she was a teacher and so will always remain Mrs. Pendergest to me.
My Dad would have wished her well and understood her struggles as he too fought the battle against the disease. He shared fun stories of them working together and I suspect shared some teacher conversations about their students.
My thoughts are with her husband, children and extended family and wish them courage to navigate the coming months. She will be remembered.
