OLIVER: Earl Winston

Passed away peacefully at the P.R.H.C. on Wednesday December 13, 2023.  Earl Oliver of Norwood in his 84^th year.  Earl will be remembered by many for having taught in the area for 35 years including 29 years at Norwood High School.  During his time there, many students received honest and caring support from Earl, allowing them to prepare for their lives beyond school.   In addition to his teaching, Earl and Carol tended Holstein cattle on their dairy farm.  He was an active member of Norwood United Church and more recently St Andrew’s United Church, Westwood.  Having a beautiful tenor voice, Earl would often join in the choir providing music at church and at local events.  Earl was also a long-time member of the Norwood Lions Club, having received the Melvin Jones Award and was acting as District Governor.  Loved and missed by his wife of 61 years, Carol (née Orvis).  Also sadly missed by his children Craig (Carolyn) of Stoney Lake, Scott (Nancy) of Oakville, Susan Oliver (Andy Payne) of Peterborough and Sheryl McColl (Neal) of Havelock.  Loving grandpa of Lisa (Ibk), Kate (Josiah), Aiden, Rhys, Travis, Adam and great grandpa of Noah, Zoe and Jaxson. Remembered by his nephew Jack Oliver (Jean) and by his trusty companion Toby.  Predeceased by his parents Roy and Lil, brothers Henry (Enid), Lyle (Madelene) and sister Eleanor Magee (Bill).  Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, NORWOOD CHAPEL, 36, Queen Street, Norwood on Tuesday December 19, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held at Norwood United Church on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM.   Rev. Lynn Watson officiating.  Interment to follow at Asphodel-Norwood Cemetery.  A reception will follow the interment in the fellowship hall of the church.  Memorial donations may be made to the P.R.H.C.
